Woman accused in 2 robberies on CTA trains facing felony charges

CHICAGO — Felony charges have been filed against a Chicago woman accused in two robberies on CTA trains.

Chicago police said 18-year-old Celeste Pope, a West Englewood resident, has been charged with two felony counts of robbery.

Police said the charges stem from Pope’s alleged role in two armed robberies that both unfolded on CTA trains in July and October.

According to police, the first incident unfolded on a Red Line train in the 1300 block of West Montrose Avenue on July 19, when Pope allegedly took property from a 22-year-old man while riding the train.

Authorities said Pope allegedly struck again on Oct. 30, when she allegedly robbed a 28-year-old woman on an Orange Line train in the 5100 block of South Pulaski Road.

Authorities eventually caught up with Pope on Tuesday and said she was taken into custody in the 1700 block of South State Street.
