DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — Nearly three years after a deadly shooting in Troy, police say they have arrested two suspects.
According to Troy Police, on November 5, Phenix City, Alabama authorities arrested Zy’kayedria Ka’shay Thompkins, 23, and Jahunter Imorriss Johnson, 22, both of Phenix City.
Police say Thompkins and Johnson were both arrested after a lengthy investigation into the November 2021 murder of 27-year-old Zacharias Devonta McLendon.
Reports show McLendon and five others were shot at a convenience store 800 block of U.S. Highway 231 South. At the time of the shooting, police said McLendon died from his wounds at a local hospital, and the other five were released after receiving medical treatment.
Thompkins and Johnson were indicted on one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
A release from the TPD says Thompkins and Johnson were transported to Pike County from Phenix City after their arrest.
The Troy Police Department thanked the Criminal Investigation, the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, the Pike County District Attorney’s Office, and the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.
