Police: Driver in Wisconsin hits and kills a dog out for a walk with its owner

MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Madison are searching for a driver involved in a deadly accident that claimed the life of a dog on Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred around 8:00 a.m. when a woman and her dog were crossing Highland Avenue at Kendall Avenue in the crosswalk.

A vehicle, turning south on Highland Avenue, allegedly failed to yield to them, hitting and killing the dog, which was on a leash. The woman was unharmed.

The driver stopped briefly but left the scene, heading southbound on Highland Avenue toward Regent Street. Madison Police urge anyone with information about the driver or witnesses of the incident to contact them at (608) 255-2345.
