AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Amarillo Toys for Tots has kicked off its campaign for the holiday season. The organization is accepting monetary and toy donations.
The goal of the Toys for Tots campaign is to make sure every child gets a toy for Christmas.

“Right now, we are putting boxes out into businesses, so if you have a business we would love to put a box there for people to donate toys,” Dawnette Lusk, Amarillo Toys for Tots coordinator, said. “We’ll come gather those and put them in our workshop. People can come volunteer and bag the toys for children. People can apply if they need assistance with toys for the children at Christmas. We have volunteers that come and help fill their bags and we try to get toys that the children ask for or things that they need.”
According to Lusk, some families are unable to afford to pay their bills, let alone buy their children toys for Christmas.
“All the kids deserve to have a Christmas where they can receive a you that just gives them joy,” she said. “They see other kids with all the things they get when they go back to school, so we just want to make sure that all the kids can receive a toy that needs it.”
