Maryland State Police helicopter helps rescue injured hunter in West Virginia

WEST VIRGINIA ( DC News Now ) — Maryland State Police (MSP) units helped rescue an injured hunter in West Virginia on Tuesday.

MSP said that units in Grant County, West Virginia, responded to a “remote area on a mountain for an injured hunter who fell from a tree stand” around 7 a.m.

Rescue crews requested that MSP’s Aviation Command assist with an aerial hoist rescue.

A helicopter crew based out of Cumberland, Md. performed the rescue. They lowered a responder who helped prepare him for extraction.

Responders on the ground helped keep him stable through the process.

He was taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment and evaluation.
