Many of us cherish old family photographs and bring out our photo albums to reminisce and remember those who are no longer with us.
For the Acoba family, their family photos hold a different truth.
Their photographs are currently on display at the San Joaquin County Historical Museum as part of “The Forgotten History of the Filipino Farm Center” exhibit.
The exhibit is open for its last week, and will close at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10.
How it started
It all started with a photo uploaded to Facebook by Val Lee Acoba, member of the Filipino Farm Center Project Committee and a San Joaquin County Historical Museum docent and trustee.
“I posted a picture because I thought it was interesting of the Filipino Farm Center because it had a picture of my father-in-law, Vicente Acoba , who is one of the founders of the Filipino Farm Center in the ’40s and ’50s,” Val told The Record. “He’s one of the early farmers in the French Camp, Lathrop area. I got the picture from a gentleman named Mitchell Tabaldo.”
