Winter storm causes power outages, downed trees in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)—A strong storm system has brought cold air, gusty winds, and snow to much of New Mexico and has had a big impact in the metro. The powerful wintry mix has caused school delays, closures, and power outages across the state. Downed trees and power lines have led to dangerous driving conditions but some people are happy finally to see some snow.

“I love it. I love the winter. I woke up early this morning and he sleeps in a little later than I do. And I was just pacing back and forth waiting for him to get up and see all of the snow on the trees that had just drooped all the branches down to the ground,” said Dorothy Martinez who lives in Albuquerque.

It’s something that isn’t seen every day in Albuquerque. “I feel good about it, I like it. It feels fresh its a good time to watch movies with the family and stuff,” said Andres Perez who lives in Albuquerque.
