Viral text message containing racial slurs triggers minorities across the Ark-La-Miss

OUACHITA PARISH ( KTVE/KARD ) – A viral text message containing racial slurs and vulgar language has impacted residents of Northeast Louisiana and South Arkansas.

The message often states that the recipient has been chosen to “pick cotton” and demands that they “report to the nearest plantation with no belongings.” In some instances, the message sent also includes the name and personal details of the recipient. The disturbing message reached a resident of South Arkansas who spoke to KTVE/KARD about how the message ruined his day and could do the same for others.

I feel like if they sent this as a joke this is not a laughing matter, especially with the day and time we’re living in. You just don’t know that message could ruin a persons day. Especially someone who grew up in that era where, like the Jim Crow era, something like that. Sending them a message like that could really cause them to like you know flip out or as the kids say now like crash out. So you never know what that might do to a person. So I really think you should reconsider sending around that message.
