Phoenix Man Sentenced to Nearly 20 Years in Colorado Prisoner’s Fentanyl Death Case

Jeremiah Robinson, 44, of Phoenix, Arizona, has been sentenced to 235 months, or just over 19.5 years, in federal prison, followed by four years of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Colorado.

Robinson pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute more than 40 grams of fentanyl, the department said.

Robinson, described as a longtime drug dealer with six prior felony convictions, operated primarily in the Phoenix metropolitan area, the department noted.

Before May 2022, he reportedly supplied drugs to Efrain Velez, a dealer from Mesa County, Colorado, who would travel to Phoenix for purchases.

On May 7, 2022, Robinson conducted a significant sale of fentanyl and methamphetamine to Velez and two associates, Vanessa Vasquez and Anna Munday, in Phoenix, the U.S. attorney’s office states.

As the trio traveled back to Mesa County, law enforcement intercepted their vehicle and discovered the narcotics, according to the department.

The department reported that, during the traffic stop, Velez and Vasquez concealed drugs on their persons, later smuggling them into the Mesa County Detention Facility.
