Louisville colleges appear unimpacted after racist texts reported by students around the US

Some Black students around the country appear to be on the receiving end of racist text messages in the days following the 2024 General Election , though officials at Louisville colleges say they haven’t heard reports of such messages from their students.

“Hopefully, Kentucky students aren’t being targeted,” UofL Interim Vice President of Communications and Marketing John Karman said in an email.

Officials at Simmons College of Kentucky, Louisville’s only historically Black college, also have not heard any reports of their students receiving racist text messages, said Tyler Anderson, a spokesperson for the college.

The anonymous messages have been reported in at least Georgia, Detroit, Michigan, Virginia, Ohio, Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina, according to USA TODAY.
