Chesapeake woman searching for stolen emotional support dog

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A woman is turning to the public for help locating her mother’s emotional support animal, Lola, after it was taken Tuesday from the Chesapeake Square Walmart.

“My mom, who’s recently diagnosed with dementia, took her EMOTIONAL support animal over to Walmart to buy her a new dog bed,” said Constance Stewart. “She was a little disorientated. And then I got a call at work that Walmart had my mom and needed her to be picked up.”

Constance Stewart is looking for her mom’s miniature golden doodle, Lola. Her mother was told Lola could not enter the store, so she tied the dog to a pole outside of the store, and then someone took her. Stewart said having the emergency support animal is crucial for her mother’s well being.

“My mom is devastated,” Stewart said. “This was a complete accident on her part. Lola has been by my mom’s side since she was six weeks old. And she is very vital to getting my mom on a schedule. She gets my mom outside. They go on daily walks around her senior apartment, and she really just provides comfort for her in these times of her medical needs.”
