Police: Man attacked, robbed outside apartment building in Takoma Park

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Takoma Park police said investigators are searching for a group of people who allegedly attacked and robbed a man outside of his apartment building on Tuesday.

According to the Takoma Park Police Department (TPPD), on Nov. 5, just after 4 a.m., officers were called to the 700 block of Ethan Allen Avenue for a robbery that had just taken place.

There, officers learned that the victim had parked his car and began walking toward his apartment building. When he got to the front step, five boys, who were sitting in front of his building demanded that he give them his car keys.

Police said the victim refused and the group attacked and hit him. They then took the keys from his pocket and sped away in his car.

During this time, police said the victim’s partner heard the incident and came outside where he was found lying on the ground unconscious, but breathing.

He was taken to the hospital with abrasions and bruises and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
