HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — Penn State Health just announced it will be relocating its Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute (PPI) inpatient services after they were unable to secure a new lease with UPMC.
According to Penn State Health, they will be relocating PPI’s inpatient services to Holy Spirit Medical Center in Camp Hill at the end of its current lease in September 2026.
Penn State Health says they had intended for PPI to remain at its current location on 2501 North Third Street in Harrisburg; however, they were unable to secure a new lease with UPMC, who holds the master lease for the site.

Penn State Health claimed that UPMC had “not been responsive” to their requests, which is why they decided to relocate PPI.
“Given the circumstances, we must act now to ensure a successful relocation of PPI by September 2026,” Kim Feeman, president of PPI said. “We are committed to making the transition as seamless as possible and to minimize disruption of care and services for patients and their families, clinicians, staff, educators, students and researchers.”
