Long-time talk show host Gary Sutton announced on Facebook that today was his last day at WSBA.
Sutton, who joined the station in 1991 as a part-timer and has hosted a talk show for nearly 28 years, wrote, “Tomorrow is the first time in 52 years that I don’t have to work, but I hope that doesn’t last long because I am not retiring. God is in control, and I know there are new opportunities ahead and a new chapter in my life.”
Sutton, a former high school social studies teacher, was well-known in high school sports circles for his broadcasting and for coaching basketball. He is a member of the Susquehanna Valley Chapter of the Pennsylvania Hall of Fame and the York Sports Night Hall of Fame for his work with athletes and athletics.
His talk show, which began as a sports show, morphed into a general talk show, which aired mornings on WSBA. In a 2020 interview , Sutton said he has been called “a conservative, a libertarian, and a liberal,” during his years on the air. “I’m very interested in people who have different views than me and why (they have those opinions). I’m willing to listen to people,” he said.
