‘We hear you’ Lubbock ISD updates school consolidation options

LUBBOCK, Texas On Oct. 31, Lubbock ISD said Wheelock Elementary, Honey Elementary, Wolffarth Elementary and Ramirez were no longer under consideration to close as part of the district’s consolidation plans. According to LISD Superintendent Dr. Kathy Rollo, while no decisions have been made, there are discussions around suggestions such as Overton Elementary moving to Rush Elementary, as well as the potential consolidation of schools such as O.L. Slaton Middle School, Bean Elementary and Hodges Elementary.

The future focus committee is still sorting out ideas, which they will look at again in a meeting next week. In the meantime, the district is also holding community meetings that are open to the public in order to listen to feedback.
