Father of Opelousas girl shot in head speaks out as she clings to life: ‘Put the guns down’

OPELOUSAS, La. ( KLFY ) — The family of a 17-year-old girl fighting for her life is speaking out about gun violence. This comes after a violent week in Opelousas .

According to Opelousas police , there have been four shootings since Saturday. In the latest shooting on Tuesday, a teen girl was shot on Kim Drive .

Her father tells News 10 that his daughter, Davasha Robertson, was sitting in a vehicle with three other people when she was shot in the back of the head.

“My biggest fear is getting a phone call that my child has been shot,” David Robertson, Davasha’s father, said.

For David, that fear came true early Tuesday morning.

“I put this on no one. I put this on nobody. Watching my kid fighting for her life for no reason, it really tears me down as a father,” David said.

According to her father, Davasha was in a vehicle with three others when Opelousas police say the suspect, Danger Johnson, began shooting at them.

While Davasha was the only one shot, her father believes she was not the intended target.
