Thanksgiving is a few weeks away, and some organizations in the First State are lending a helping hand to those who cannot afford a turkey or a full meal on the holiday.
There are many ways to get involved and receive help this year, and the large annual food drives will be in full swing soon.
The Food Bank of Delaware and iHeartRadio are teaming up are hosting a Turkey Roundup on Thursday, Nov. 7, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at three Food Lion locations in the state, one in each county.
- 501 Walnut St., Middletown
- 1030 Forest Ave., Dover
- 2004 Midway Drive, Harrington
The Food Bank of Delaware started its Thanksgiving drive in September and is accepting donations through Friday, Nov. 8, including frozen turkeys, which must be dropped off at their Milford or Glasgow locations.
“We are committed to making sure no Delawarean goes without a holiday meal,” Food Bank of Delaware President and CEO Cathy Kanefsky said in a statement.
“To do this, we need the support of our community. Together, we can all brighten the holiday season for our neighbors in need.”
