Maxwell Auto Hobby Shop reopens at Air Force Base in Montgomery

The Maxwell Auto Hobby Shop reopened on Sept. 27, providing service members with a more affordable and convenient way to upkeep and clean their personal vehicles.

The auto hobby shop is a unique resource designed to support Maxwell community members and cut costs on auto repair expenses by providing a self-service environment.

The shop is opened on Friday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and available to anyone with base access.

“It not only helps service members save time and money on vehicle repairs, but also fosters a culture of collaboration and proactive maintenance,” said U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Alex Bernard, 42nd Communications Squadron plans and program manager. “The average wait time for car repairs is about two weeks and the Maxwell Auto Hobby Shop could help people by loaning out tools and space to make auto care easier.”

The Maxwell Auto Hobby Shop is a place for all skill levels of auto care, and a place to learn how to upkeep a vehicle. The shop provides access to tools, equipment, seven working bays and the expertise of other users.
