El Paso Electric sends crews to NM to help restore power

EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — El Paso Electric sent line crews to assist PNM with power restoration efforts Friday morning, Nov. 8, after a severe snowstorm impacted northern New Mexico this week, according to the utility.

The utility says the snowstorm impacted more than 50,000 customers and more than 100 crew members with PNM worked to restore service to those affected.

As of Thursday afternoon, 41,000 customers are still being affected and power has been restored to 9,000 customers in the Albuquerque and Santa Fe area, according to PNM.

PNM esimates that most customers will have their power restored sometime on Friday.

PNM says customers should be on the alert for crews working near roadways and help keep them safe by driving slowly and keeping a safe distance.
