Major automaker with plans to come to Greenville County

While it’s not clear exactly who the company is but a major automotive company is looking to set up shop in Greenville County. At Tuesday’s night’s Greenville County Council Meeting, the company was referred to simply as Project Blackbird.

However, Councilman Butch Kirven did reveal it’s a major recognizable name. The County and the company are currently engaged in an NDA which prevents the company’s name from being revealed.

To move into the County the company wants tax breaks which is a regular occurrence for industry moving into the area. The agreement passed it’s 1st reading 11-1.

A 2nd reading is set for the Council’s meeting November 19th. Project Blackbird is expected to bring a 200 million dollar investment and create more than 700 new jobs in Greenville County.
