Police investigate cemetery thefts in the South Bay

BONITA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Several thefts from a cemetery in Bonita have been reported since mid-October and authorities are now investigating.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, several metal flower vases have gone missing from Glen Abbey Memorial Park & Mortuary, which is located in the 3800 block of Bonita Road.

The Imperial Beach Sheriff’s Substation is leading the investigation efforts in collaboration with park staff. At this time, there is no suspect information nor are there any leads in the case.

Authorities are encouraging those who may have been the victim of a vase theft at the cemetery to file a crime report with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office. This can be done by calling the Imperial Beach Sheriff’s Substation at (619) 498-2400.

No further information was immediately provided. An investigation remains ongoing.
