Detectives use Safeway Club Card to identify man arrested for Spokane Valley murder

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — A suspect in a murder last month was caught on camera using a Safeway Club Card just minutes before a man was killed in Spokane Valley.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed in Spokane Superior Court, 43-year-old Johnathan Bryman purchased aluminum foil from the Safeway on E. Trent Avenue October 12. During the purchase, Bryman used a Safeway Club Card registered to Angela Bryman.

The court documents say Bryman left the store and met 53-year-old William McCreight in the parking lot. The two then walked to Bryman’s Camaro together.

According to detectives, surveillance footage showed McCreight and Bryman talking before McCreight fell to the ground and Bryan leaving in his vehicle.

Witnesses told police they heard yelling and multiple gunshots.

McCreight died at the scene and the Medical Examiner said he died of multiple gunshot wounds. McCreight also had a silver and black BB gun on him.

Using information from the foil purchase, detectives identified Bryman as the suspect and learned he was an Idaho resident from his Facebook page.
