I-45 reopened after hours of clearing a knocked-down sign due to a 4-vehicle accident

DALLAS (1080 KRLD)— Around 5 p.m. Friday, traffic deputies cleared off I-45 after a huge sign was knocked over from a four-vehicle accident earlier that day.

The Dallas Sheriff’s Office said midday Friday that traffic deputies were working the scene of a four-vehicle accident involving a knocked-down overhead sign.

The accident took place before 11:30 a.m. and all of northbound I-45 at Good Latimer is shut down at this time. Traffic is being diverted onto Lamar exit.

TxDOT advised drivers early afternoon to expect closure for Friday evening’s rush hour traffic. They originally planned to move the structure towards the inside lanes so they could get at least exit 30 opened by the evening. However, due to the weather, it may be delayed.

They exceeded expectations as our KRLD Traffic team announced via X that the road started to clear and I-45 was reopened through footage.
