Iowa Wins Duals in Georgia

MARRIETTA, Ga. – The second-ranked University of Iowa women’s wrestling team opened dual competition with a 46-1 win over No. 11 (NAIA) Hastings and a 30-14 victory against No. 1 (NAIA) Life University in the Eagles’ Nest on Friday.

Iowa started the day against Hastings. Freshman Rianne Murphy won via forfeit at 103 pounds. Ava Bayless then defeated Rayleigh Guyer by fall in 26 seconds at 110 pounds to give the Hawkeyes a quick 10-0 advantage. Brianna Gonzalez made her season debut and beat Ruby Guerrero via tech fall, 10-0, at 117. Valarie Solorio followed at 124 pounds and won via forfeit to put Iowa up, 19-0. Skye Realin continued her impressive first season with the Hawkeyes with a 15-2 tech fall over Larissa Katz at 131. Nanea Estrella, in her first match back after a suffering a season-ending injury in December 2023, beat Reagan Gallaway via pin in 1:57. Ella Schmit kept the Hawkeyes rolling with a fall in 48 seconds against Emma Stice at 145 pounds. Rose Cassioppi followed at 160 pounds and tacked on another 10-0 tech fall. Naomi Simon got the job done at 180, tech falling Chloe Harris, 12-0. Katja Osteen ended the dual on a high note for the Hawkeyes at 207 pounds, pinning Taylor Rickley in 21 seconds to secure the 46-1 win.
