Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers threw five touchdown passes and had a relatively easy day in a blowout win over Florida.
Ewers played so well, coach Steve Sarkisian pulled his starter in the third quarter and inserted backup Arch Manning. You remember him, right?
Manning finished out the win, and looking to fill airtime, ABC broadcaster Joe Tessitore let slip an interesting anecdote that spoke volumes about Manning’s mindset.

Manning played about 2 1/2 games in September when Ewers went down with a strained abdominal injury. Manning tore it up, throwing nine touchdown passes total against UTSA, Louisiana-Monroe and Mississippi State.
Tessitore said on the broadcast that the story going around the Texas program was that Manning declined an opportunity to do a post-game TV interview because “this is Quinn’s team right now” and Manning didn’t want the extra attention.
Sarkisian, Ewers and Manning have all been on the same page when it comes to quashing any potential quarterback controversy. The coach has been adamant that this year, the Longhorns are Ewers’ team. Most inside the program agree that Ewers is expected to go pro next spring, and Manning will take the controls.
