Man killed in early-morning shooting in Auburn Gresham

CHICAGO — A man is dead after a shooting on the city’s Far South Side early Saturday morning.

Chicago police say officers were called to the 8400 block of South May Street, in Auburn Gresham, just before 3:30 a.m. after a report that a witness had found a wounded and unresponsive man outside her home.

According to police, the witness told police that she heard gunshots coming from outside and left her home to discover the 68-year-old man unresponsive on the ground.

The man was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the shooting and an investigation is underway.

Authorities have not yet identified the individual killed.
