Drug take back day collects 14 tons in 4 states

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — October’s Prescription Take Back Day collected more than 14 tons of medications across a four-state area.

The Drug Enforcement Administration, along with state and local law enforcement partners, collected more than 28,000 pounds of unused medications at 163 sites in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and South Dakota on Oct. 26.

THC drinks becoming more common in Sioux Falls

This marks the highest total collected across the region since 2021, when more than 37,000 thousand pounds was dropped off.
