BALTIMORE — A series of shootings left one person dead and at least six others injured on Saturday, according to Baltimore City Police.
One incident involved a man who was shot in the head, and later died at the hospital. A doorbell video obtained from a neighbor shows two people fighting before a gun is fired. The shooting occurred on Powell Avenue off Belair Road.
A second man later arrived at the hospital, reporting that he, too, had been shot on Powell Avenue.
This was one of at least six shootings in Baltimore that day. Police confirmed that five other men injured in separate incidents are in stable condition, including the youngest victim, a 19-year-old who went to Harbor Hospital for treatment.
Qiana Heckstall, vice president of the Cedmont Community Association, said the Powell Avenue shooting took place near her backyard.
“We heard about 8 or 9 gunshots ring out, and I actually had to grab my granddaughter,” Heckstall said. “She’s only four years old. She was just playing around. She doesn’t know what’s going on, as no child should.”
