This recipe was given to me by a very special lady in my life many years ago and it is a recipe I still make several times a year as it is requested often by my family. It is a very simple recipe that the cake and the icing are included. You will need the following ingredients:

Cake
2 cups of all-purpose flour
2 cups of sugar
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1 cup of water
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 stick of butter
1/2 cup of vegetable oil
4 tablespoons of cocoa powder
2 eggs
1/2 cup of buttermilk
Icing
1 stick of butter
4 tablespoons of cocoa powder
4 tablespoons of milk
1 pound or 3 2/3 cups of powdered sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

In a medium bowl add the flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon and stir the dry ingredients together.

In a medium sauce pan add the butter, water, cocoa powder and vegetable oil and bring this mixture to a boil.
Carefully pour the cocoa mixture into the flour and mix this together.
