Motorcyclist killed in Maynardville Highway crash

MAYNARDVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — One person died Saturday in Union County after a crash on Maynardville Highway.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to the crash just before 5 p.m. on Saturday. According to a preliminary THP report, a car was stopped in a northbound lane of Maynardville Highway waiting to turn left onto Old State Highway 33 when a motorcycle attempted to swerve to the left side of the stationary vehicle.

The motorcycle hit the car’s back end and struck a guardrail on the right side of the roadway. Steven Miracle, 64, was killed in the crash. The two occupants of the car were not injured.

No charges are pending, according to THP.
