VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia Beach Fire Department (VBFD) put out a brush fire that involved over 6 acres of land on Saturday morning.
At approximately 8 a.m., units responded to a report of a brush fire in the Ashville area of Virginia Beach.
Crews arrived at around 8:15 a.m. to find heavy smoke coming from an area about 2000 feet off of Princess Anne Road.
VBFD worked with a drone equipped with an aerial thermal imaging camera to locate the direction the fire was spreading. Crews had to navigate through briars and thick vegetation to contain the fire and focus on hot spots.
Crews had the fire under control by 11 a.m. and marked out by around 2 p.m.
The origin and cause of the fire have been classified as underdetermined.
