History, hikes and holidays on display in November

Tennessee State Parks will offer a wide range of festivals, events and outdoor activities for visitors to enjoy during the month of November. From full moon hikes to holiday celebrations, there’s something for everyone to explore.

Here’s a look at just a few of the upcoming events on tap in state parks located in the eastern region of Tennessee. Advance registration is required for most events. See a full list of activities and register online at tnstateparks.com/events.

HIKING

Fall Hike

Panther Creek

5:15 p.m., Nov. 9

Join a park ranger for a fall hike after dark in Panther Creek State Park in Morristown. Hike the “moderately difficult” Norris Blackburn trail to the wildlife observatory and back. The hike is approximately .90-miles round-trip and should take around 45 minutes. All participants should wear close-toed shoes/boots and bring a filled water bottle and flashlight. Registration is $2 in advance.

Supermoon Hike

Cumberland Trail

4:30 p.m., Nov. 15

Meet at Bruce Gap (aka Cove Creek) trailhead for a strenuous two-mile, out-and-back hike to check out some local beaver habitat. Wear sturdy hiking shoes, bring water and a flashlight. Pre-registration is required. Cost is $10 per person.
