71-year-old woman arrested for OWI, hit person with vehicle during Wisconsin road rage incident

MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) – A 71-year-old woman was arrested for OWI in southern Wisconsin when she was found to have an open container of alcohol in her vehicle after she rammed into a person during a road rage incident.

According to the Madison Police Department , officers were sent to westbound Highway 12 near Gammon Road around 12:10 p.m. on November 7.

Officers say that two vehicles were reportedly brake-checking and swerving between one another when both got off onto Gammon Road and came to a stop at a red light.

A passenger in one of the vehicles got out to take photographs, and while he was doing so, the driver of the other vehicle, later identified as 71-year-old Mary Lou Gilbert, allegedly stepped on the gas and hit him.

Gilbert was arrested for 2nd-degree recklessly endangering safety, first-offense OWI, and a ticket for having an open container of alcohol in her vehicle.
