Honor Flight Northeast Indiana receives $5,000 donation

(WANE) – The Nexstar Media Charitable Foundation and WANE 15, which is owned by the Nexstar Media Group, announced Monday that the Foundation will donate $5,000 to Honor Flight Northeast Indiana.

Honor Flight Northeast Indiana is a recognized, independent hub of the Honor Flight Network. Their mission is to honor our nation’s veterans by providing them with flights to Washington, D.C., free of charge, to visit the memorials built to commemorate their service and sacrifice.

Last month, Honor Flight Northeast Indiana took 84 veterans for an all-expenses paid flight to Washington, D.C. Among the participants were 77 Vietnam War veterans, four Korean War veterans, two veterans who are women, and a veteran who was presented with a Purple Heart.

“WANE-TV is committed to helping Honor Flight Northeast Indiana complete their mission of recognizing and celebrating our military veteran heroes,” said Tom Antisdel, the VP and General Manager of WANE-TV. “I was honored to be witness to their work as an Honor Flight Guardian to our war memorials in the nation’s capital. The appreciation of Veterans and the outpouring from our community is Positively Fort Wayne at its finest. Plus, we are proud and honored that the Nexstar Media Charitable Foundation can make a donation to such a worthy organization.”
