CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Charlotte man was sentenced to life in prison on November 6, after a jury found him guilty of first-degree murder and multiple other offenses, according to a press release from the North Carolina District Attorney’s Office.
The Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Homicide Team tried 29-year-old Christopher Chisholm with first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, three counts of possession of a stolen firearm, breaking and entering a motor vehicle and being a habitual felon.
Honorable Judge Louis A. Trosch Jr. sentenced Chisholm to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder charge. For the remaining charges, Judge Trosch sentenced him to consecutive sentences totaling 112-159 months in prison.
The trial began on October 21, 2024, five years after the death of 56-year-old Robert Michael Hopkins.

On Dec. 20, 2019, officials say Chisholm and another male were attempting to break into vehicles in the parking lot of the Ayrsley Town Center in south Charlotte.
