Convicted: Missouri man planned to kill immigrants and federal border agents

KANSAS CITY – A Missouri man has been convicted of planning to shoot and kill immigrants and federal border agents in a plot that came to light in 2022.

Jonathan O’Dell of Warsaw, age 34, along with his buddy from Tennessee, 39-year-old Bryan Perry, started up a militia they called the 2nd American Militia. They plotted to head to the southern US border – to shoot migrants and the border patrol agents who tried to stop them.

O’Dell’s Warsaw home was used as their staging ground, with recruiting other members and collecting firearms, ammo and paramilitary gear. They even posted to TikTok that they were going huntin’ and taking their full kits.

Their plans came to an abrupt end in a shootout with FBI agents in Warsaw on the eve of their trip.

Now, a federal jury has found both O’Dell and Perry guilty of more than 30 felony counts, including attempting to murder federal agents. They’re facing a minimum of 10 years and could get as much as life in prison when sentenced.
