Motorcyclist dies in single vehicle collision on road leading to South Mountain

A motorcyclist died in a single-vehicle collision after taking a left turn on the road leading to the top of South Mountain on Sunday.

Phoenix police officers responded shortly before noon and found a man with serious injuries, who was taken to the hospital and later died.

The man, identified by police as Edward Perez Severino, 28, was taking a left turn traveling eastbound up the two-lane road when he left the roadway and crashed.

The investigation was ongoing. No further details were available.
