Legend has it that a long time ago, there were laws in some areas that limited when people could eat ice cream. The desire to control people’s actions and choices led many cities and states to create and enforce restrictive laws that dictated when and where people were allowed to eat ice cream,

To get around these rules, businesses started making what became known as “sundaes”. These treats didn’t count as ice cream because the toppings covered up the ice cream, which made them legal in places that banned regular ice cream.

Sounds a bit corny? Well, we haven’t’ changed all that much. But Hawaiʻi was spared this hysterical approach to choice.
