Elections are over, Brunswick band finishes first and local ‘superhero’ dies

Welcome to November’s second weekly Brunswick Today newsletter written by your Brunswick County StarNews reporter Savanna Tenenoff.

The time has come to take a breather, or at least it is for me, because elections are over and Thanksgiving and Christmas festivities are just about to begin. I don’t know about you, but I can smell turkey and hear tinsel from here.

Candidates on the ballots were not the only ones duking it out for a spot at the top. A Brunswick school has the best marching band in the Wilmington area, according to voters of a StarNews poll. Read here to see the winner.

Though newly elected officials will take their seats in December, one local leader has given up his for good. Navassa’s first-ever major died last Sunday but his legacy will live on.

One local high school senior spent her birthday working the polls and casting her first ballot. Other first-time voters shared their input on this election. More here .
