Average gas prices drop 12 cents at the pump

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– The American Automobile Auto Association (AAA) reports that gas prices in Michigan are down 12 cents for regular unleaded, with some below $3 a gallon.

Drivers in the Lansing area are paying less than the statewide average of $3.04 to $3.01 per gallon. Jackson drivers are paying the same as the state average.

According to AAA, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) records gas demand slid from 9.15 million b/d to 8.82. EIA states total domestic gasoline stocks rose from 210.9 million barrels to 211.3, while gasoline production increased, averaging 9.7 million barrels daily.

“Michigan gas prices have dropped to the lowest prices since February,” said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA-The Auto Club Group. “If gasoline stocks continue to rise, alongside lower demand, pump prices could drop further.”

The cities with the highest gas prices in the state are Ann Arbor and Detroit, both averaging $3.10 per gallon.
