Hero barber disarms gunman who opened fire in busy NYC barbershop-as community leaders call for more police on the crime-infested Queens block

Two suspects burst into a busy barbershop on Roosevelt Avenue and opened fire Friday evening — prompting community leaders to call for continued police action on the crime-infested Corona block.

The gang-related shooting rang out inside the Langumas El Cache Barbershop in Queens at around 5:45 p.m., surveillance footage showed.

The video captured them running into the barbershop before a heroic barber intervened, holding back a suspect in a white hoodie, while his accomplice ran to the back of the store and fired off a few rounds at an unknown victim.

The barber, Rafael Abreu, 47, was praised by community leaders Hiram Monserrate, a former local pol, and Ramon Ramirez-Baez of the Let’s Improve Roosevelt Avenue coalition, for disarming the gunman in a press conference from the barbershop Monday.
