Storm Force Winds Possible Along Coastal Areas Along With Heavy Rain & Snow
11/11/24 4:37 EST
Good afternoon everyone. We continue to track a fairly sizeable storm that is the “tip of the spear” in terms of a more active period along the West Coast and the Midwest over the next 7-15 days.
Low pressure coming ashore this afternoon in the Pacific Northwest and southwest Canada is bringing with it, heavy rain, thunder, and strong winds across areas of Washington and Oregon. In higher elevations, we have some heavy snows to contend with. In areas greater than 4,000ft in elevation across northern parts of Washington, 12-24″ of snow may fall as a result.
For coastal sections, the National Weather Service has issued a Storm Watch for the Oregon coast from the border of California, northward across the Washington coastline. As the strongest convection races towards the shore, we could see wind gusts in excess of 55mph and 17-22ft seas.
Down across California, much needed rain is falling for interior parts of the state. In areas such as Fresno, CA, we could see some heavier rain mixed in as well as some thunder. In higher elevations across the Sierra, 4-8″ of snow may fall as a result.
