Some 600 voters in Philly still need to verify their ID for their ballot to count

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Though all the races have been called in last Tuesday’s election, Philadelphia City Commissioners are still counting thousands of provisional ballots and working to verify ID for hundreds of mail ballots.

A list of some 600 voters who need to submit proof of identification before their mail-in ballots can be counted is available on vote.phila.gov .

Commissioner Lisa Deeley says those voters can fax, email or even phone in the information by calling 215-686-3469. All voters on the list — which started at around 1,000 — have been contacted. The submission deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 12.

Senator Bob Casey’s campaign has been holding out hope that provisional ballots could make a difference in his race, which has been called for Republican David McCormick . Those familiar with the process say that’s nearly impossible statistically, though it could narrow the margin to trigger an instant recount. Deeley says the commissioners’ purpose is to ensure no one is disenfranchised.
