San Antonio Zoo will launch miniature train dedicated to U.S. military veterans

In honor of Veterans Day, the San Antonio Zoo is launching a new military-themed inspired miniature train to celebrate Military City, USA’s ties to the armed forces.

The train will provide a “moving tribute to the men and women who have served our nation,” according zoo officials. Slated for a launch next year, the miniature rail line will be the third operating in Brackenridge Park.

“The introduction of our military-inspired train is a heartfelt tribute to the brave individuals who have served or are serving our country,” San Antonio Zoo CEO Tim Morrow said in a statement. “In a city renowned as Military City, USA, this initiative reflects our deep respect and gratitude for the sacrifices made by our service members and their families.”

The San Antonio Zoo also is selling naming rights to parts of the train, according to zoo officials. A $1,000 donation buys naming rights to a seat, while a $2,500 donation will get a train bench. Those willing to cough up $10,000 will own the naming rights to one locomotive car.
