The annual Veterans Day ceremony at the Pennsylvania Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Home took place Monday morning to honor those who have served the country.
The ceremony took place in the historic chapel honoring veterans of the armed forces.

Although many celebrations took place on the actual holiday, Ken Vybiral of the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Home said veterans should be celebrated every day.
He said this reminds veterans that their service still matters years after the oath of enlistment. This year the ceremony featured two guest speakers who are Erie natives and veterans.

“The freedoms we have today are based upon the sacrifices that veterans made in Erie. Veterans have been part of that Strong Vincent and Charles Gridley who have paid the ultimate sacrifice owe it to the kids out there today so it’s about sacrifice it’s about freedom and we pay the price,” said Edward L. Bolton Jr., retired Air Force major general.
