COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) — For one local veteran, November marks an important time of year. On Veterans Day, Wilbur Hudson, who turns 100 on Nov. 25, is remembering his military service and life.
Hudson was born in Ohio in 1924 and graduated from high school in 1942. He said he can sharply recall many eras of his life, almost right from the beginning.
In 1943, Hudson joined the U.S. Army, finishing his service in 1966. During that time, Hudson served in World War II and the Korean- and Vietnam Wars.
The veteran remembers his time in the Army as a pivotal period in his life. He often recounts those memories in great detail to his family members.
Those stories are not always easy to tell, said Hudson.
“I talk in abstract, and that abstract probably began probably when I was in the military. There’s times that make you forget,” Hudson said.
