Lubbock ISD Superintendent Kathy Rollo said the district and its Future Focus Committee are listening to community feedback amid ongoing discussions about possible campus closures and consolidations.
The superintendent sat down with members of local media last week. She told reporters district officials are engaging parents and teachers as the school board and the advisory committee work to find a solution to declining enrollment and stagnant funding.
“We hear you,” Rollo said. “We have community meetings scheduled for every campus that is a possibility for being considered. We’ve met with parents; we’ve met with staff.”
“We just don’t have as many students living in our district,” she said.
The school district recently convened the Future Focus Committee, a 122-member, invite-only advisory body tasked with recommending a plan for the future of Lubbock ISD’s campuses as the district faces a $14.8 million deficit.
