Vote for the El Paso Children’s Hospital high school athlete for Nov. 4-9

The El Paso Times will honor high school athletes this year every week that you, the readers, help determine. We will be taking weekly nominations and will release a list of finalists for the El Paso Children’s Hospital High School Athlete of the Week at 7 a.m. each Tuesday.

Students in all varsity sports are eligible to be nominated. The poll will close at 3 p.m. each Thursday, and the winners will be announced Friday.

Here are this week’s nominees:

  • Ernie Powers , Franklin football. He rushed for 408 yards on 37 carries, had one catch for 15 yards and scored five touchdowns in win vs. Pebble Hills.
  • Jaelynn Kohli , Eastlake volleyball. She had 18 kills in playoff win vs. Midland Legacy and 21 kills in win vs. Lake Ridge.
  • Evan Rivera , Chapin football. Rivera passed for 269 yards and threw four touchdowns in win vs. Hanks.
  • Julian Williams , Horizon football. Williams passed for 339 yards, threw four touchdowns and ran for a touchdown in win vs. Jefferson.
  • Luke Lomeli , Eastlake football. He passed for 335 Yards and had four total touchdowns in win vs. Coronado.
  • Emma Balsiger , Franklin basketball. Balsiger made the All-Tournament team at the Mavs Fall Classic. She had 20 points vs. Rock Hills and had 14 points and eight rebounds vs. Cleburne.
  • Danae Gonzalez , Burges basketball. She scored 20 points vs. Arlington Martin, 25 points vs. Spring Memorial, 28 points vs. San Antonio Brandeis and 19 points vs. Riverside.
  • Rachel Silva , Parkland basketball. She was named All-Tournament in the Fabens Tournament. She scored 16 points in title game vs. Fabens. She also scored 14 points vs. YWLA and 11 points vs. Austin.
