The National Weather Service has issued a forecast bringing rain, snow, and gusty winds to Central California starting Monday afternoon. The system, expected to arrive Veterans Day, will bring rain to the San Joaquin Valley and snow to higher elevations.
Forecasters predict a 40-70% chance of at least a tenth of an inch of rain across most of the San Joaquin Valley north of Kern County, with a smaller 25-35% chance for rain in Kern County. Snow accumulation is anticipated above 7,000 feet, with Yosemite National Park likely to see two or more inches by Tuesday morning.
Eastern Kern County can expect gusty conditions as well, with winds reaching 45 mph Monday night into Tuesday morning. A Wind Advisory is in effect from 9 p.m. Monday to 7 a.m. Tuesday for the Mojave Desert Slopes.
After a brief midweek warmup, another storm system will bring cooler, unsettled weather to the region by late week. While there are some uncertainties around timing, another round of rain and snow is expected, potentially continuing into next week.
