I may not be a cheesecake aficionado, but when the Mayor of Flavortown visits a local eatery, I’m obligated to do the same.
Dining the news: Guy Fieri featured Wario’s Beef and Pork on “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives” last Friday, so expect longer lines now that the secret’s out.
- I’d already heard good things and my first visit lived up to the hype.
What I ate: “The Steak,” a classic cheesesteak with tender shaved ribeye, grilled onions and cheese whiz on a semolina seeded roll.
- I ordered it “Wario’s Way,” with American and provolone, because more cheese always makes a sandwich better ($19).
💠My thought bubble: Yes, the price is steep. But this foot-long was so dense I ate it for two meals, so that’s technically a bargain. (“Girl math,” I know.)
- I’m glad I was able to enjoy it twice, as it was one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had.
Pro tip: I hear the spuds are good, but can’t fathom having room for a side dish.
Stop by: Try the original walk-up window and spacious patio in the Arena District (111 W. Nationwide Blvd.) or the dine-in Clintonville restaurant (4219 N. High St.).
